Handover at arrivals
Tbilisi is where most visitors arrive, and where the widest choice of cars sits waiting.
The handover happens at arrivals: the owner of the car you booked meets your flight, gives you the keys, and collects them at the airport again when you leave. From here the wine country to the east and the mountain road north are both a morning's drive away.
Pick the car and the dates you want. Your flight number can go straight into the comments field when you make the booking.
Arrivals here run around the clock, and so does the handover. The owner has your flight number and is waiting with the car when you come through.
On your departure day you bring the car back to the airport and hand the keys over there, so the last morning is not spent crossing Tbilisi in traffic. If another drop-off point suits you better, agree it with the owner when you book.
Every car below can be collected at the airport. Prices are per day in lari, and each listing carries its own deposit and cancellation terms.
The airport sits on the edge of the city, which means you can be pointed at the mountains or at Kakheti without ever driving through the middle of Tbilisi.
| Destination | Distance | Drive time | Road |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tbilisi city centreThe short run into town, on dual carriageway most of the way. | 22 km | 30 min | Main highway |
| Kazbegi (Stepantsminda)North on the Georgian Military Highway, climbing the whole way. | 169 km | 195 min | Mountain road |
| Sighnaghi (Kakheti)East into the wine country, on open road through the valley. | 96 km | 95 min | Main highway |
| GudauriThe ski road north, and the last town before the pass. | 135 km | 150 min | Mountain road |
| BorjomiWest, then south into the river valley and the park. | 175 km | 150 min | Mixed roads |
| BatumiThe long run west to the coast, most of it on the main corridor. | 380 km | 345 min | Motorway |
Drive times assume normal conditions and no stops. Mountain routes take longer in winter, and some of them close for part of the year — check the road before you set off.
All-wheel or four-wheel drive, on winter tyres. These are the cars worth taking on the routes marked as mountain roads above.
None of this is specific to the airport — it's what changes the moment you leave the car park, wherever in Georgia you're headed.
Getting into Tbilisi is easy and cheap by any method. The question is what happens on day three, when the plan involves a village with no Bolt drivers in it.

Renting with Trentro
In the arrivals area. The owner of the car meets your flight and hands the keys over in person, so there is no rental desk to find and no transfer to an off-site car park. The precise meeting point is confirmed with you once you have booked.
No. Handovers here are arranged around your flight rather than around office hours, so a night arrival is booked the same way as any other. Give us the flight number and the owner will be there for it.
Yes. You bring it back to the airport and hand the keys over there, which saves crossing the city on the morning of your flight.
The road north climbs a long way and conditions change with the season, so all-wheel or four-wheel drive on winter tyres is the sensible choice outside summer. The strip further up this page shows only cars that have both.
City traffic is busy and parking in the older districts is tight, which is one reason people collect at the airport and head straight out. If you are staying in the centre for the first night or two, it is worth checking whether your accommodation has parking before you pick your dates.
Lari. That is the currency you are charged in and what the price on every listing means. The display can be switched to dollars or euros for comparison, but the charge stays in lari.
It is set per car by the owner, not by us. Each listing says whether a deposit is needed and how much it is before you book, and some cars ask for none.
Many cars here can be cancelled free of charge and carry a badge saying so. The terms that apply to the car you are looking at are on its page, before you pay.
